Professional Development

Our CPD offer

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) describes the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. CPD is central to our Hub's work because the evidence is clear that investing in high-quality professional development is the best way to support all pupils to succeed, especially the most disadvantaged.

At the NELT Hub, our professional development offer will add value to the region’s existing provision by designing bespoke programmes based on local need as well as signposting to existing high-quality offers.

All of our professional development draws on five standards for CPD as well as guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation.

Why CPD is so important in education settings

Professional development plays an important part in ensuring that teachers remain in the profession and have fulfilling careers. A structured, practical and methodical approach to learning helps schools to retain staff and develop the skills and knowledge needed to continually improve outcomes for pupils.

Engaging in evidence-based Continuing Professional Development ensures that teachers keep up-to-date with the latest proven practice allowing them to continually up skill throughout their career.

Get in touch about CPD

We'll be listing more about our CPD offer as our Hub role and remit develops, including course dates and signposting to partner providers.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact us to discuss your school's CPD requirements.

What kind of CPD do we offer?

We offer a broad range of CPD opportunities. If you are looking for a way to enhance your knowledge in a specific avenue of teacher development, NPQs may be the right choice for you. NPQs are a nationally recognised qualification for teacher development, and are perfect for those aspiring to reach the next stage of their development journey.

We also offer short courses, and more specific training. To find out about these opportunities, visit our Research School page.
